Right at Home Stevenage, Bishop’s Stortford & Braintree is recruiting an ambitious, caring Senior Care Assistant to join our growing team. We deliver high-quality, trusted care that supports adults to live comfortably in their own homes.
Role Overview
As a Senior Carer, you will support the Registered Care Manager to ensure our Care Assistants deliver exceptional care during a minimum of 45-minute visits. Your role will include mentoring staff, onboarding new clients, delivering hands-on care, and completing essential office tasks.

Key Responsibilities
- Mentoring and development of the Care Team
- Ensure Care Plans are accurate and updated
- CareGiver spot checks
- Shadowing training new CareGivers
- Ensuring the Care team follow policies and procedures
- Flexible and being able to take the on-call phone on a rotation basis.
- Building relationships with client families and care professionals
Desirable
- 12+ months hands-on care experience
- Working towards or holding Level 2 QCF/NVQ (preferred, not essential)
- Upbeat verbal, written and face to face communication style
- UK driving licence with access to a car (Essential)
Progression
We promote from within where possible, offering training and development for those looking to progress into roles such as Care Coordinator, Care Supervisor, or Care Manager.
Requirements of a Senior Care Assistant:
- Must hold a full and valid UK or EU/EEA driving licence and have access to own vehicle
- Be able to offer availability either early mornings (from 7am), afternoon (from 2pm) and every other weekend
- Commit to attending a 3-day training course
- Live locally to Stevenage, Letchworth & Hitchin and surrounding areas
- Have or be willing to obtain business vehicle insurance
If you have experience as a Care Assistant, Support Worker, Carer, HCA, Health Care Assistant or in the NHS we would love to hear from you. However, if you do not have experience, we provide full training and encourage candidates from all sectors to apply, for example: retail sales assistant, customer service, hairdressers/beauticians, receptionist, administrator, cleaners, warehouse workers and delivery drivers.
